A little about myself ~ I am a witch, a nurse, a healer, wise woman (chuckles at that) walking the path of life. I am on the downside of my 40’s…most days I’m comfortable with that….most days, LOL. I am a single mom. I have 2 boys at the very difficult ages of 12 and 15, both trying to find their way in this crazy world we live in. I am currently unemployed (again) and not sure I want to be a nurse anymore….at least not the way they think nurses should practice nowadays. I always envisioned myself as a community healer….a village nurse. I envisioned this even before I started down the path as a Witch and in some ways it is what drew me to the Craft….the art of being the village wise woman and healer. I think I can finally follow that path working with herbs and healing in a more natural way than anything I have done as a nurse. I wouldn’t trade my medical knowledge for anything in the world, but that said, what they call medicine now is scarier than anything the average “witch doctor” could ever cook up….LOL. I trust TinMan’s medicine over a medical doc any day – not that he’s a witch doctor (no honey, I don’t think of you that way) but I’m sure herbalists have been called far worse by the medical “establishment.”
We (Me, my fella Rod and my two sons) moved to a farm in rural VA in 2010 and I finally feel like I’ve come home in a manner of speaking. We are renting here and hope to eventually find our own place but for now, a good friend is letting us call this place home. She is good enough to let us do pretty much what we want and keep whatever animals we want and for that I am grateful. Without her generosity Belfire Farms would still be a dream on the horizon.
I am so happy that I am able to give my boys this kind of lifestyle. Growing up on a farm and living around folks who have farmed their whole lives. This kind of life instills values that living in a city just cannot provide….no matter how much you may try as a parent to instill them.
As a witch I have longed to live closer to nature, to work in the earth and to enjoy a life lived off of the land. The Goddess teaches us that we are all of the Earth, the Mother – she nourishes us, teaches us and guides us every day. There is nothing that we need that she cannot provide. As I am meandering along the path of life on the farm I look forward to sharing with you all of the Mother’s rich bounty and wisdom.
